Remo aims to make the user experience for everyone awesome, and we mean everyone.

That is why Remo now has in-built closed captioning functionality within Presentation Mode. With Closed Captioning, Remo will automatically transcribe each speaker's audio, so everyone can know what was said and by whom.

Closed Captions in Remo are available to all users (guests, speakers, hosts) in Presentation Mode. As a user, you can choose to enable or disable Closed Captions as you wish.

There are two ways for guests to view closed captions during an event on Remo:

1. Captions as an overlay:

Click the CC button on your bottom menu toolbar.

You should start seeing the captions, as well as the speaker's name underneath the videos. With this option, you'll see a maximum of 3 lines of captions at any point in time.

To turn off the captions, simply click the CC button one more time.

2. Captions on the side:

Click the CC tab on the right-hand side of your screen, and slide the 'Show Video Closed Captioning' toggle to ON.

Once toggled on, you'll be able to see captions along with the speaker's name and timestamp in this panel.

Please note, if you refresh your page, you will lose the captions previously shown prior to your refresh.

To turn this off, simply return to the CC tab and slide the 'Show Video Closed Captioning' toggle to OFF.

And, there you have it - Closed Captioning in Remo's Presentation Mode

Now that we've covered the basics of Remo's Closed Captioning feature, here are some of the frequently asked questions:

  • Who is able to enable/disable Closed Captions? Is it enabled by default?

Closed Captions are available for everyone - whether you're a guest, speaker, or a host you will have the option to enable or disable Closed Captions as you wish.

Closed Captions are disabled by default, so if you would like to use them, you need to enable them by either clicking the 'CC' button on your bottom menu toolbar or using the CC panel on the right-hand side.

  • What languages are Closed Captions available in?

At the moment, Closed Captions are only available in English.

  • Are captions available on all devices?

However, a top tip for you - before leaving Presentation Mode you can copy and paste the captions from the CC panel on the right-hand side.

  • Does this feature caption everything in Presentation Mode?

Captions will be generated for any direct audio passing into Remo. In other words, any videos shared using the 'Share Video' functionality will not be captioned.

  • Are Captions only available in Presentation Mode?

At the moment, yes - Closed Captions are only available in Presentation Mode. However, we have compiled a list of 3rd party tools you can use in Conversation Mode to add captioning - check it out here.
